As the semiconductor device dimension shrinks down to nano scale, researchers face a lot of
challenges in fabrication as well as modelling of new materials and device structures.
The faculty development programme on "Next Generation Materials and Devices" explores the important
concepts behind device modelling and fabrication technology with a highlight on the issues and
challenges faced while moving to nanoscale devices. This programme explores the new research areas
such as multigate device modeling, interconnect modeling, spintronics, designing of solar cells,
neuromorphic computing etc. and directs the audience towards the research challenges in these areas.

Internet of Things (IoT) remains the key technology that will impact nearly every industry in future.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has evolved from the convergence of wireless technologies,
micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and the Internet. By connecting 'things' in the real world
such as cars, buildings and industrial equipment, IoT promises to revolutionize how we live and work.
Enterprise and Industrial markets are poised to become the biggest areas where the Internet of Things
will be implemented. This seminar aims at providing an opportunity for under graduate and post graduate
students, research scholars and faculty members to enrich their knowledge and skill in developing
appropriate solutions for various problems in the society. This seminar also serves as a platform for
research scholars, faculty, engineers and students to interact on cutting-edge technologies in IoT.
Event Date:25th July, 2018.
Organised By:ECE IETE Professional Society.
The objective of the Industrial Visit On 25/07/2018 is to help students gain first hand information regarding functioning of the industry which presents the students with opportunities to plan, organize and engage in active learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We were fortunate to have one highly skilled supportive and interactive officer from whom we got to know the technical details of the entire Operation of communication system.
As Engineering students of ECE 2ND Year, need to know about practical operation of the communication system, to keep themselves updated about transmission and reception of signal, and challenges of the broadcast etc, Industrial visits serve as easy means to understand all this.
Event Date:22nd to 29th February, 2018
Guest Lecture By:Mr. Atif Shah, ABE semi conductor design, Chairman & Managing Director, Chennai
Organised By:ECE IETE Professional society.
An eight-day workshop on “Application of Raspberry pi in IOT” was conducted in the Department of Electronics& Communication Engineering, by Mr. Atif Shah, ABE semi conductor design, On 22nd Feb 2018 to 29 Feb 2018
The workshop was based on usage of linux OS and Rasbian software. It started with python basics and computing environment, The workshop continued with applications like home automation using IOT.
Internet of Things or IoT in short, is the idea of making devices and objects smarter by linking them to the internet. IoT has promising applications for smart homes, wearable devices, smart cities, connected cars and more. This workshop is intended to introduces the amazing world of IoT and its fascinating applications. Using a Raspberry Pi computer and a DHT sensor, the students will develop an electronic device that streams temperature and humidity data over the internet. They can program the system in such a way that say whenever the temperature exceeds a certain limit, the device will automatically send an email notification
Apart from gaining practical skills on the Internet of Things, by doing this project , will learn about the Raspberry Pi development platform which is popular among people who love innovative projects. The main objective of the workshop was to train the participants by imparting knowledge about the subject so that by adopting a holistic approach they can gain enough exposure. Apart from theory sessions, the workshop also included Tutorial activities, Group sessions , Quiz to make it more interactive and interesting.
