A day in the life of a postgraduate student

Welcome to a day in the life of a postgraduate student at our SREC Campus.

Whether you’re returning to learning or coming straight from an undergraduate degree, SREC has the resources, support and expertise to help you excel in postgraduate study. Our close industry associations and expert staff mean a postgrad degree from SREC will help take your career to the next level. Learn what it’s like to study at SREC by following a postgraduate student’s average day.

Getting to campus :

Most undergraduate students who study at the SREC Campus get to class by auto, bike, bus or car. There are plenty of transport options, even if you don’t live too close to campus.

Then again, you might decide to live on campus. The SREC Campus, like some of our other campuses, offers modern on-campus accommodation options. You can choose between a range of different accommodation styles, including a shared hostel for girl students.

Joining a Club or Center :

As a postgrad, you only have a few hours of classes and seminars a week. That gives you plenty of time to study, but why not also take some time to make friends by joining a club or center?

SREC is home to a number of active, buzzing clubs – including a programming club! There are dozens of clubs you can join, including language, sport and special interest groups.

Meeting your supervisor :

Many postgrads have a supervisor, especially for research-heavy units. Supervisors work with you as mentors and guides, giving advice and constructive criticism to help you produce the best possible work.

It’s up to you and your supervisor to decide how often you need to check in – maybe you’ve decided fortnightly, or perhaps monthly.

Learning at the cutting edge :

Many of students quickly become familiar with various centers. It’s a truly cutting-edge facility, with resources like rapid prototyping (3D printing) and the Product Design Studio. And every student will love to spend more time in AI and Embedded IOT centers along with at the center for advanced programming.

Even if you’re not a researcher, there are plenty of teaching and learning areas and study spaces. It’s just a nice space to be in, and there’s always something interesting going on.

Library learning :

If you’re looking for a quiet place to study, the library’s your best bet. You can borrow books. It comes in handy if you’re putting together a portfolio of work for your course, or you need to put together an assignment.
