PROBLEMS FACED BY
The physical labor is high.
Shortage of man power for agriculture based work like sowing seeds, planting saplings, weeds removal, pesticide sprinkling.
Need to pay high wages for agri based works since demand is high due to lack of manpower.
Difficulties in using old agricultural equipments that haven’t been updated since decades.
Suffering from back pain and skin related diseases by the sprinkling of pesticides and applying fertilizers in the fields.
INTERACTION DETAILS AND CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS:
After interaction with our community partner, Mr.Pulla Reddy, his profile, daily activities related to his profession, problems faced and his requirements are summarized.
A machine which will plant the crop with the desired spacing (1m row- 40 saplings).
Machine with less weight so that it is portable.
A Machine which can be affordable (economical) by the farmer.
A machine which is less complex to operate.
Machine which involves less labor.
Product – Expo:
Product Expo-I was organized on 28-11-2015. Students demonstrated their products and explained about the community partners. Prof.William Oakes, Director of EPICS visited the Expo and appreciated the students.
Product Expo-II was organized on 21-03-2016. Students demonstrated their products and explained about the community feedback. Principal sir, all the Deans and HODs visited the expo and appreciated the service oriented products.
Product Expo-III was organized on 01-10-16; expert team visited the expo and evaluated the Model demonstrations. Assessment was done based on the rubrics created.
Product Expo-IV was organized on 02-03-2017. Students demonstrated their products and explained about the community feedback. Prof.William Oakes, Director of EPICS visited the Expo and appreciated the students.

PRODUCT IMAGE AND BRIEF FUNCTIONALITY:
The saplings are placed in the holders.
When the saplings are placed the machine is pulled towards the user.
The motion of the ream will enable the arms to place the saplings into the field.
USER TESTING AND FEEDBACK
As soon as the transplanter is been pulled the arms start moving, and plants the rice saplings.
Due to wheels it can be easily transported to field and back into storage.
As per the standards, the minimum distance should be placed with sapling to sapling.
The shape of arm is taken care at design step, so it can hold until it is planted firm.
The product is very useful to us.
It can decrease the labor cost significantly which will financially helpful.
As it is light in weight we can carry it to home (portability).
